White Quartzite is an off-white to pale cream stone with a bright, crisp split face and only faint grey banding. Of all the quartzites it reflects the most light, which makes it useful in narrow spaces such as side passages, courtyards and light wells.
It is used heavily on modern elevations, where a white stone wall is set against dark window frames and a flat roof line. Cut into thin strips and laid in a stacked pattern, it gives a strongly horizontal, contemporary look that renders and paint cannot match.
A word of honesty about it: because it is pale and slightly textured, it will hold dust and can show algae in a permanently damp, shaded position. In an open, well drained location it stays bright for years, and a wash with water restores it.
