Agra Red is the red sandstone of the Agra and Bharatpur belt, quarried barely eighty kilometres from our works. It is the stone that built much of Mughal-era North India, and it is still cut from the same geological formation today.
The colour is a warm brick to deep maroon red, sometimes with lighter cream streaks running through it. It is a moderately soft sandstone, which makes it excellent for carving, and it develops a deeper, richer surface as it weathers rather than degrading.
It is used for elevation cladding, plinth courses, boundary walls, garden paving, driveway edging and restoration work on older buildings. For projects in Uttar Pradesh it is often the most economical natural stone available, simply because the quarry is close.
