We do not publish prices, because the right price depends on size, thickness, finish and where it is going. Send us those details and you will get a real quotation, not a range.
An inlay table top is made by cutting a recess into white marble and setting shaped pieces of semi-precious stone into it so that they finish perfectly flush with the surface. The technique is called pietra dura, and in India it has been practised continuously in the Agra region since the seventeenth century.
Every stage is done by hand. The design is drawn onto the marble, the recess is chiselled out, each piece of mother of pearl, malachite, lapis, carnelian, jasper or turquoise is ground to the exact shape of its slot, and the whole surface is then levelled and polished as one.
We take orders for round, oval, square and rectangular tops in a range of sizes, with floral, geometric and Mughal-pattern designs, and with or without an iron or wooden base. Lead time depends on the size and the density of the inlay, and we give a realistic date at the time of order rather than an optimistic one.
